Arthritis Client
Elizabeth, 38, was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in her early 20s and suffered for the next 15 years with a stiff and increasingly immobile back and bouts of extremely painful sciatica.  Her sleep was disturbed due to pain at night.  Since diagnosis, she had been on prescription anti-inflammatories which were getting steadily stronger but less effective.  In addition, she had steroid treatment for acute sciatic attacks.
When she came to RxNutrition, she had no idea that diet could affect her condition.  Yet an analysis of her diet showed she regularly ate foods which can worsen inflammation.  We put in place a few simple dietary changes, to exclude inflammatory foods and include anti-inflammatory foods.  We boosted her intake of anti-oxidants to support her immune system and introduced supplements to to improve her bone and joint health.
Within 2 weeks Elizabeth noticed a marked difference.  She could dramatically decrease her medication and was soon able to do without it altogether.  She took up yoga to increase flexibility, which previously she had been unable to do and her sleep quality vastly improved.  Elizabeth found that a few small changes improved her quality of life and gave a positive outlook to managing her condition in the future.
